The Financial Aid Process

The Financial Aid Process

Complete the Financial Aid Application

To be reviewed for federal and state student aid, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.studentaid.gov beginning October 1st. You must list Franklin Technology Center’s Title IV school code (013568) on the form.

Review your Student Aid Report

Approximately one week after completing your FAFSA, you will receive a FAFSA Submission Summary. If you do not, check the status of your report online at www.studentaid.gov. The FAFSA Submission Summary summarizes the information you provided on your FAFSA. If all the information is correct, keep the FAFSA Submission Summary for your records (If you listed Franklin Technology Center on your FAFSA, we will receive a copy of your FAFSA Submission Summary electronically). If information on your FAFSA Submission Summary is incorrect, mail in corrections to the appropriate address, or make them online.

Franklin Technology Center Correspondence

Within three to four weeks after you receive a complete, correct FAFSA Submission Summary, the Franklin Technology Center Financial Aid Office will send you a Financial Aid Offer notification and/or a request for additional documents. If you do not receive the notification, please contact us. Submit requested documents as soon as possible or your aid may be delayed.

Your Financial Aid Offer Notification

Review your Financial Aid Offer. Accept or Decline each type of aid offered. Sign and date the offer then return it to FTC’s Financial Aid Office. If there are corrections needed, please notify the Financial Aid Office. You will have to complete Entrance Loan Counseling, Annual Student Loan Acknowledgement, and electronically sign your Master Promissory Note before loan proceeds will be released. Go to www.studentaid.gov to complete the online sessions and signatures.

Pay Your Bill

You will be required to set up a monthly payment plan with Franklin Technology Center’s Staff Accountant if your financial aid will not cover the total cost of the program. Payments will be made on a monthly basis no later than the 30th of each month.

Get Your Refund

If your financial aid exceeds the amount you owe for the cost of the program, a refund check will be issued to you.
